Writing Essay
by Karina Michelle
XI IPA 1

—MY LOST PASSPORT—

Passport is a document, issued by a national government, which certifies, for the purpose of international travel, the identity and nationality of its holder. The elements of identity are name, date of birth, sex, and place of birth. Most often, nationality and citizenship are congruent.

A passport does not of itself entitle the passport holder entry into another country, nor to consular protection while abroad or any other privileges. It does, however, normally entitle the passport holder to return to the country that issued the passport.

And one day, me and my friends were planning to spent the holiday together to Singapore. We’re planning to go there on April 17th until 20th. We’re planning to go to Singapore, because it has such a wonderful places like Universal Studio, Marina Bay Sands, the shopping places, and especially, we went there to watch “The Lion King” Musical Opera. The Lion King Musical was adopted from the cartoon it self. My cousins have watched the Lion King Opera, told me that it was amazingly stunning. And so everybody said that too. I’m so excited to spent the holiday there and watch the opera with my friends, and they are Hansa, Cintya, Raras, Nina & Danto.

And so, we have to book the hotel for accommodation, the opera tickets, Universal Studios tickets, and of course the flight. Nina had booked everything, then it comes to flight booking. When we booked a flight, of course it needs a passport. And when Nina asked for our passports number, then I realized that my passports is missing. I don’t know where. I totally forgot where the last time I put it! I asked my parents and they didn’t know. Because I my self, the one that keep the passport. And know I forgot where.

And so, Nina booked all of my friends flight tickets, accept for me. They can’t wait for me, because the price is getting expensive the longer we booked it. And so I have to book the flight tickets myself.

I search all over my house. From my room, my brother’s room, my parent’s room, and even in my father’s working place, but I didn’t find it. I totally lost it. So for not wasting more time searching it, I decide to make a new passport.

Then I went to Immigration Office in South Jakarta. It was so crowded, and I queuing there for like 5 hours, just to bring the required files to make a new passport. Then I have to come back the day after tomorrow to take a fingerprint data and having an interview with the immigration staffs. After that I have to wait for like a week and more to finally get my passport.

It was such a long and hectic process in making a new one, but then I finally get the new passport after 2 weeks of waiting. After that I can book my flight tickets to Singapore, and thank God, I still have a same flight with my friends, but a different seat and price of course. Mine’s more expensive because of the longer booking.

Finally, I can spent my holiday and watch the opera with my friends, and it was totally fun. I learned a lot experience & lesson from losing my passport. Know I know how to keep the important files and things safely, and learn to be less-careless person.

One day my father took me to a mountain trip. We stayed in a bamboo house inside the forest. I was all just about excitement because that forest it’s a habitat of Java’s tiger, monkeys and some unique plants. We planned to explore the forest on the first day we arrive there, but heavy rain was approaching. Our guide, Mr. Alam, didn’t let us go for our safety. So we wait until the rain stop. It was dark already when the rain stopped. So in my thought ‘nothing exciting can we do, now.’. but my thought was wrong. Our guide lead us to the forest. We explored. It was full of light. Not from the lamp of our flashlight, it all from the “glow in the dark mushroom” that grow all over the trees.

The next day i explored the forest. I saw some monkeys group. I gave them bananas but they only stare and freeze. Human are strangers for them. So we decide to keep walking and not waste our tim. We took rest in the waterfall playing and then continue our expedition to the tiger cave. We we arrived there, nobody dare to enter the cave. We only stare at it. our guide believe they are there, sleeping. So we didn’t see the tigers. We only saw their foot print at the mouth of the cave. unfortunately all the excitement had to stop there. Because it was time i have to go home. So early. But at least i saw something that others dont.

That is my nature experience. Because of it now, my life’s full with thoughts about saving animals life and how to change human perception about sharing place to live with them. We (Human) became dictator and claim everything theirs. We never ask their permittion to built our houses, a reason why they left theirs until they dont know where else to go and force them entering enemies territory. We built a big house thats too much for only four person to live and still wandering to buy a bigger one, meanwhile, thats the place where thousands others earthlings suppose stay there in group. Because of it, I have a vision to take care and be responsibility stabilize their habitat and guaranteed a better life nowadays.

ENGLISH ASSIGNMENT

NARRATIVE ESSAY

Name : Inas Raras Maheningtyas

Class : XI IPA 1

LOST CELLPHONE

Cellphone is one of my precious items which I always keep it close to me anytime and anywhere. If I forgot to bring it with me, I will feel uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Without a cellphone, I could be cranky or depressed for a while. I would feel lost contact with everyone and lost updated news. Maybe something of great value was in that cellphone, whatever it is. I, personally, keep anything I important in my cellphone. In my phone, I keep all of my photos, musics, videos, notes, and agendas. Among other things, I have all of my families, friends, and aqcuintances’ phone numbers in my cellphone. I was very good about always having my cellphone and never losing it until.5 years ago, I left my cellphone in my class by accident and when I tried to get it back, its already gone. Since that single event, I have lost my cellphones two other times, but those losing-cellphones-accident none as mysterious as the one happened recently..

October 3rd 2010, which was my 16th birthday, I got a Black Nokia E63 from my parents. I was really happy to get it. I saved every single pictures, videos, and other valuable stuffs in my phone. I changed it’s case a lot, with different colours. I tried really hard not to lose it anymore, like I would any other time. I took it everywhere with me and kept it in my pocket. Well, when someone doesn’t have pockets, then it is hard to keep their cellphone right next to them at all times. Around end of October, I went to Pondok Indah Mall after school, to have a lesson at Wallstreet – my English Course which is located in Pondok Indah Mall. It was around 6.00 pm and I walked to the nearest musholla to pray, because its already Maghrib’s time. I was carrying my cellphone, texting someone, entering the musholla. It was quite crowded, full of womens, and there was a long queue at the place of ablution (wudhu). I immediately got into the queue and put my cellphone, along with my glasses in the front pocket of my backpack because I didn’t have pockets on my jeans. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize there was “someone” watching me putting it. And then, when it was my turn to do the ablution, I put my backpack on top of the separator wall behind me. After I finished doing the ablution, and I was about to took off my backpack, I saw my glasses was lying on the floor. That glasses was supposed to be in my front pocket because I put it there along with my cellphone. I took it immediately. And while I was holding my bag and about to take it, I realized something wasn’t right: my front pocket, which was supposed to be zipped, was opened. And when I took a look inside the pocket, it’s empty. I could feel my heart stop beating at that time. “No, its not happening. Its not happening. Its not missing”, that was the only thing in my mind. I spontaneously looked toward the door, make sure no one is running frantically like someone who had just stolen other’s goods. I immediately sat down on the floor and searched my cellphone in every pocket in my backpack, but it wasn’t in there. Then I checked around my body, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. That time, I figured out that my cellphone was no longer on my body, so the only possibility was: someone has stolen it! I quickly ran into the door and tried to find a security. When I found him, I asked whether he saw a suspicios person. Sadly, he didn’t saw anyone looked suspicios. At that time, I could feel my body losing its strength. I didn’t have any ideas what to do and went back to the musholla, and the next hour or so was spent looking for my cellphone. I kept searching everywhere, hoping that it fell down somewhere. All I could think about was what I would lose if I didn’t find my cellphone, and what my parents would say if they knew I lost it again. I gave up after wasting an hour of finding nothing. Losing my wallet made me depressed for the rest of the day. I could not believe I did something so stupid.

When I get home, I told my parents what has just happened. My mother was very angry and she yelled at me. i tried to explain everything but she didn’t care, she said that I need to be more careful. She kept yelling at me that I couldn’t say anything more. And then my father came and listened to my story. He patted my shoulder and cheer me up, even if I knew that he must be disappointed too, just like my mother. But he tried to hide it. That made me cried even more.

That accident means that I have lost my cellphone three times. The carelessness of my misplacings have taught me a lesson, simply think before I act. This is something everyone is taught numerous times. Only now, it is easier for me to apply that to my actions. If I follow that idea, I could avoid future problems like this, preemptive caution. It took a scare like this for it to finally kick in to me.

If you’re thingking about getting new puppies, be sure you make the best selection that suit your family’s needs. Cause raising a pup, same as hard as having a baby.

Narrow your choices to a few breeds that interest you. You want a small dog? A large dog? A long-haired dog? a short haired one? Family type or dog show type? Attractive or calm one? every single choices leads you to a perfect dong you need. you must considering the maintain. if you’re a busy person, don’t pick a long-haired and attractive dog. they need more care and grooming maintenance that the calm one and short-haired.

Consult to expert. Ask them about how to raise them. Because you should train puppies to suit your lifestyle. Train them how to eat politely, train how to potty in the right place. train them to be nice to your surrounding especially children.

Buy them from a good breeder or trustworthy pet shop. You dont want to buy an illegal dog, don’t you? Sometimes cheap dog seller get their doggie by kidnapping them. So pick the right place!

Check your puppy-to-be’s health. They should not have diarrhea, worms, bloods in their feces.

Many of us recall a time when we simply took in an orphan puppy that we found wandering alone. Sometimes it works; but others doesnt. 4 List above helps you find a perfect match.

The Golden Retriever is a medium-sized breed of dog. They were historically developed as gundogs to retrieve shot waterfowl such as ducks and upland game birds during hunting and shooting parties. As such, they were bred to have a soft mouth to retrieve game undamaged and have an instinctive love of water. The golden retriever has a dense inner coat that provides it with adequate warmth. The outer coat is sleek and water repellent, and lies flat against the body. The official colour of the breed is the varying shades of gold that are most often seen.

The breed’s intelligence and versatility suit the dogs well for a variety of roles including guide dog for the blind, hearing dog for deaf people, hunting dog, illegal drug detector, and search and rescue participant. Because of their loyal and gentle temperament, golden retrievers are also popular family pets.

Golden Retrievers possess a friendly, eager-to-please demeanour, and are the fourth most popular family dog breeds (by registration) in the United States, the fifth most popular in Australia, and the eighth most popular in the United Kingdom.

Some variations do exist between the British type Golden Retrievers prevalent throughout Europe and Australia, and those of American lines and these differences are reflected in the breed standard. The muzzle of the British type of dog is wider and shorter, and its forehead is blockier. It has shorter legs, with a slightly deeper chest, and shorter tail. Its features make it generally heavier than the American type. Males should be between 56–61 cm (22–24 inches) at the withers and females slightly shorter at between 51–56 cm (20–22 inches). Their weight, however, is not specified in the UK standard. The KC standard calls for a level topline and straight hindquarters without the slight rear angulation found in American lines. The eyes of the European type are noted for their roundness and darkness as contrasted with the triangular or slanted composition of their American counterparts. A Golden Retriever of British breeding can have a coat colour of any shade of gold or cream; however, red or mahogany are not permissible colours. Originally cream was not an acceptable colour in the UK standard; however, by 1936 the standard was revised to include cream. It was felt this exclusion was a mistake as the original “yellow” retrievers of the 19th century were lighter in colour than the then current standard permitted. As with American lines, white is an unacceptable colour in the show ring. The British KC standard is used in all countries with the exceptions of the USA and Canada. Some breeders of this type in America may import their dogs to improve the temperament and health noted in those bloodlines .

American type

American Golden Retriever

An American Golden is lankier and less stocky than a British Type. A male should stand 22–24 inches (56–61 cm) in height at the shoulders, and females should be 20–22 inches (51–56 cm). The coat is dense and water repellent, in various shades of lustrous gold, with moderate feathering. The gait should be free, smooth, powerful, and well-coordinated.

Canadian type

The Canadian Golden Retriever’s appearance are similar to the American type in height and weight, and have a thinner coat than their conformation line counterparts, and they are usually darker in colour.

Coat and colour

Golden Retrievers vary widely in colour.

As indicated by their name, their coat comes in light golden colours to dark golden colours. The coat and undercoat are dense and waterproof, and may be straight or moderately wavy. It usually lies flat against the belly. The American Kennel Club (AKC) standard states that the coat is a “rich, lustrous golden of various shades”, disallowing coats that are extremely light or extremely dark. This leaves the outer ranges of coat colour up to a judge’s discretion when competing in conformation shows. Therefore, “pure white” and “red” are unacceptable colours like black . The Kennel Club (UK) also permits cream as an acceptable coat colour. Judges may also disallow Goldens with pink noses, or those lacking pigment. The Golden’s coat can also be of a mahogany colour, referred to as “redheads”, although this is not accepted in the British show ring. As a Golden grows older, its coat can become darker or lighter, along with a noticeable whitening of the fur on and around the muzzle. Puppy coats are usually much lighter than their adult coats, but a puppy with a darker colouration at the tips of the ears may indicate a darker adult colour. A golden’s coat should never be too long, as this may prove to be a disservice to them in the field, especially when retrieving game.

Scientific classification
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Artiodactyla
Family: Camelidae
Genus: Lama
Species: L.

Binomial name
Lama glama
(Linnaeus, 1758)

The llama (Lama glama) is a South American camelid, widely used as a pack and meat animal by Andean cultures since pre-hispanic times.

The height of a full-grown, full-size llama is between 1.7 meters (5.5 ft) and 1.8 meters (6 ft) tall at the top of the head. They can weigh between approximately 130 kilograms (280 lb) and 200 kilograms (450 lb). At birth, a baby llama (called a cria) can weigh between 9.1 kilograms (20 lb) and 14 kilograms (30 lb). Llamas are very social animals and like to live with other llamas as a herd. Overall, the fiber produced by a llama is very soft and is naturally lanolin free. Llamas are intelligent and can learn simple tasks after a few repetitions. When using a pack, llamas can carry about 25% to 30% of their body weight for several miles.

Llamas appear to have originated from the central plains of North America about 40 million years ago. They migrated to South America about 3 million years ago. By the end of the last ice age (10,000–12,000 years ago) camelids were extinct in North America. As of 2007, there were over 7 million llamas and alpacas in South America and, due to importation from South America in the late 20th century, there are now over 158,000 llamas and 100,000 alpacas in the US and Canada.
